EXPOSITION DE PHOTOGRAPHIES SOUS-MARINES – PHOCTOPUS
16 OCTOBRE AU 6 NOVEMBRE 2020 – LA MAISON DE FRANCE A MONACO

The Federation of French Groups in Monaco has chosen to exhibit the unusual photographs of Olivier Jude, which, after the initial wonder, encourage profound reflection on the protection of our marine environment.
The exhibition "PROFONDEURS" will take you diving in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, Bali, and Sipadan in Malaysia, as well as in the waters of the Principality and its surroundings. You will be able to observe numerous similarities in fish families and animal species that are nevertheless characterized by different sizes and colors.
Alongside his partner Sylvie Laurent, a diver and model, they are developing a different vision of underwater photography. In addition to these observer shots, Olivier Jude begins to play with the idea of human interaction at the heart of underwater biodiversity. Clothing created by Valérie Jude, a stylist and creator of unique underwater outfits who is also his wife, and scenographic games are implemented to blend and harmonize with the natural beauty of the underwater space.
He also explores a series of photos on the land-sea boundary and the interweaving between human architecture and the natural structure of the Mediterranean Sea. Images of wrecks near the shores of the Principality of Monaco are a perfect illustration of their shooting technique aimed at testifying to the essential protection of maritime heritage.
These unique, unretouched captures reveal an unsuspected underwater richness and a very special dialogue between humans, marine fauna, and flora, marked by deep respect.
That is why we invite you to come and discover these photographs, some of which are unpublished, from October 16 to November 6, 2020, at the Maison de France.

Life beneath Monaco’s floating pier
Beneath the floating pier of Monaco’s Port Hercule, marine life is vibrant and abundant. Diving is strictly prohibited there due to obvious safety concerns linked to maritime traffic. PHOCTOPUS was escorted by the Monaco Maritime Police to capture unique footage featuring anthias and passing Atlantic bluefin tuna.
The video for the PROFONDEURS exhibition is specially produced by Bernard Peyrano, a diver‑journalist who worked with great skill for many years at FRANCE 3 CÔTE d’AZUR. It was made possible thanks to the involvement of all the divers from Monaco’s Maritime and Airport Police Division. Many thanks to all of them.
From Monaco to the Indian Ocean, set to an original music, composed by Olivier Boutry
Underwater photographs arranged and brought to life with an original, one‑of‑a‑kind musical composition created especially for the event by Olivier Boutry.
A sequence of images that carries you from Monaco into the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, and the Indian Ocean.
A feast for the eyes and for musical sensitivity, where—for the first time—PHOCTOPUS presents a video edit whose artistic creation begins with the music itself. The work of a brilliant composer elevates each sequence, enhancing and amplifying the full power of underwater photography.
