The General Assembly of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI), of which Monaco is in charge of co-Presidency alongside Australia and Indonesia from July 2018 until 2020, was opened on Wednesday 5 December by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, in the presence of H.E. Mr. Bernard Fautrier, Vice-President of the Foundation, as well as several international experts and representatives of the coral countries including Angus Mackenzie, Australian Ambassador to UNESCO and Susi Pudjiastuti, Indonesian Minister of the Sea and Fishermen. Since 1999, Monaco has been involved in ICRI, an organisation whose aim is to reverse the decline of coral reefs and associated ecosystems around the world. This Assembly was in meeting until 7 December 2018 in the Principality.

Phoctopus was requested by the Prince Albert II Foundation to illustrate the wealth of corals in Indonesia, Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea in a temporary exhibition at the Monaco Yacht Club, from 5 to 7 December 2018.

Sixteen photographs were exhibited at the Monaco Yacht Club.
From April 208, The Oceanographic Museum hosted an exhibition on this theme in support of the protection of corals. Phoctopus had been associated with the work of the Scientific Centre of Monaco for a selection of images of corals in their natural environment.
